2021 Showreel SD1 Redesign

This was an assignment created for Sound design 1 at Edinburgh Napier and is the full length version of my 2021 showreel. Project Description:  This project tasked me with creating for 7 aspects in games. Ambience, Weather, Vehicle, Weapons, HUD/Interface, Monster and Robot. Each clip needed to demonstrate at least one of these aspects and required us to work to a one aspect per week schedule in order to keep up in class and have content to receive feedback on. I used the following games. Final Fantasy XV Royal - Square Enix Persona 5 The Royal - Atlus The Last of Us Part 2 - Naughty Dog Gears of War 5 - The Coalition Technical Description: *Images to follow* Final Fantasy XV Royal demonstrates a vehicle and ambience segment. This segment features my family car under continuous load and utilises pitch shifting and automation in order to achieve the sound of a bigger more stately car. The sea sound present is field recordings layered and automated to give the perception of the t...

This was a project I worked on at Global Game Jam 2022 https://globalgamejam.org/2022/games/dungeon36-3 Project Description: This project is an audio centric video game which explores the journey to the BSc Sound Design Rooms, when you are forced to navigate the corridors in the dark.  Technical Description: This project I worked mainly as a composer, composition was created on iPadOS GarageBand.

M.A.S.S

This is a project I worked on during Global Game Jam 2022. project took inspiration from the 2022 Global Game Jam prompt of Duality *I think*. To this end the game was developed to be a gravity switcher game.  Technical Description: My role on this project was Lead Composer and Sound Designer. I created the music with GarageBand on iPadOS, I also then created sound effects on this.

Film Music Assignment

This was created as an assignment submission for the Film Music module at the RCS. Project Description: This project looked at Final Fantasy 7 Remake and evaluated the music from a film music perspective. This examines musical perception and interaction in Final Fantasy 7 Remake. It focuses on several key instances of change between the original and remake and also new uses of themes such as Prelude, Aerith's theme, Tifa's Theme and the Turks Theme.  Technical Process: The game was played through multiple times in order to research and build the arguments made in the video before any content could be recorded. Even after this some segments  needed recording multiple times due to the adaptive nature of the music in some areas or my own ineptitude in minigame segments. All content was recorded on PS4 and edited in iMovie. Project Images:

SN8

This is a sonic art piece created as an assignment submission for the second year Sonic Art module at RCS. Project Description: This project utilises a set library  of assets and manipulates them far from the original source in order to shape a new  narrative. The Narrative in this case follows the ill-fated SN8 rocket in an alternative timeline where it successfully heads off into the stars piloted by robots who encounter an alien civilisation. The peace talks however, regrettably end with war breaking out and both sides destroying each other. Technical Process: The sounds were recorded and provided by Alistair McDonald. Then edited by me in Logic Pro 9. *Editing Process Images to Follow* Project Images

140221

This is a sound walk from the 14th of February 2021 It was created for the Sonic Art module in my second year at the RCS.  Project Description: This project aimed to encapsulate two walks at different times on the 14th of February 2021. The narrator talks the listener through their walk around their home town at two different points in a day, one being a bright but chilly winters day and the other that evening once the snow starts to recede into water and ice. The narrator focuses largely on water and birds as their topic of focus separate at first then closing with the two coming together. Technical Process: All assets were recorded on an iPhone 11 into Garageband, using a lightning to headphone adapter to allow monitoring without introducing a second microphone to the system as would be the case with using Bluetooth headphones/earphones. These were then edited together in a Logic Pro 9 Session this was done by exporting out individual track from Garageband before transferring the...
